Martin's Comments:
Eric Thorn started out as a character of mine in another series set in the present day, the Thorns. That was at one point going to be a webcomic itself called In the Side, after the initial failing of WaR when I had mostly shelved it, but it didn't work out - which was a shame as the artist I got was good, just not very productive.

In either case, though, he's here as a high school teacher, which has long been a trait of his in his own series. He'll only pop up here and there here, but stuff with his family is still being written.

Also, that girl with the teddy bear. She looks a little odd carrying around that thing, doesn't she?

Edit: Okay, now I see the bear isn't actually in this page. Well, whatever, one of these girls has a bear in the next page. What a weirdo.

Adam's Comments:
Don't listen to him- it's perfectly normal to keep your stuffed animals well into adult hood.

But yeah, Eric was a big welcome to draw. I think the first thing I ever drew for Martin involved him way back when I was this crayon-scibbling reject nobody liked. Now I'm a tablet-scribbling reject nobody likes and I'm drawing him all grown up. Curious what we do with him in the comic. ^^
